How Much FPS Can You Expect From a PC With an RTX 3080?

You would be surprised from the FPS count that an RTX 3080 can pull out. We are basically at a point where an upper-midrange card can easily play games at 4K resolution without much sweat.

This is great and eerily exciting but you also have to factor in that not all gaming PCs with RTX 3080 share the same performance.

The performance difference among PCs is due to either of the two reasons:

  1. The difference in the hardware of a gaming PC excluding the graphics card
  2. The difference in the cooling performance of a gaming PC.

For our performance evaluation let’s pick the top-of-the-line prebuilt PC with 3080 that delivers the best gaming performance. This way, we will fully get to see what the Nvidia RTX 3080 is capable of without any strings attached.

The PC that is up to this task is the Yeyian Yari X21. This PC contains the best hardware which is capable of squeezing every last ounce out of the RTX 3080.

When tested for performance, the FPS of this PC is as follows:

  • On 1440p resolution

At 1440p resolution, the PC gave 82 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 75 FPS Microsoft Flight Simulator, 120 FPS in Red Dead Redemption 2, and 200 FPS in Fortnite.

  • On 4K resolution

At 4K resolution, the PC gave 65 FPS, in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 53 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 90 FPS in Red Dead Redemption 2, and 108 FPS in Fortnite.

All the games played on both the 1440p and 4K resolution were tested at the maximum graphic preset that each game had to offer.

From the FPS figures, we can get an idea of what gaming PCs with the RTX 3080 are capable of. We have taken the best example but for other slightly worse PCs you can adjust these numbers and you will get a rough idea of what they are capable of.

Generally speaking, all you need to know here is that a prebuilt gaming PC with the RTX 3080 will be able to play 4K games quite easily. If high refresh rate gaming is a requirement, then it will also fulfill that at the 1440p resolution.

How We Choose

Our PC choosing criteria is rather simple yet highly effective. We stay connected with the PC gaming industry and closely monitor any new releases from popular manufacturers like Skytech, CyberPowerPC, Dell, HP Omen, Lenovo, Asus ROG, etc.

Since we are always on the hunt for a value gaming system, giving a chance to new manufacturers like Yeyian is also a key aspect. More often than not, you get something oozing in value from new manufacturers rather than the old established titans of the industry.

Once we see a potential candidate that fits our criteria, we pitch it up against the best competitor in that class or price bracket to see how it competes in terms of specification, features, and design. If we are convinced that the product we have chosen provides some sort of value to consumers we bring it to the studio for closer inspection.

How We Test

We here believe in the simple yet effective application of technology therefore our testing process is also quite simple. The PC is given to a team member, and they are to use that PC as their main gaming machine.

After a week of thorough use, the results are collected and evaluated. In this way, we get to share with you what it is actually like to use the PC that we are going to mention in our articles.

In this way, by knowing what the experience of a PC is like you can better evaluate whether to bring that gaming PC home or not.

In-Depth Review

Now that you know what the performance of an RTX 3080 prebuilt gaming PC is like, let’s head to the review section of each of the gaming PCs you looked upon earlier.

Gaming Experience

Powered by the latest hardware the gaming experience of the Yeyian Yari X21 is nothing short of exceptional.

This PC covers all the aspects of a great gaming PC. It has the looks, performance, and features that gamers yearn for in a single gaming machine. Part of the appeal of the PC comes from the use of the latest 12th generation Intel processor.

During my use, this processor along with the graphics card and other elements of the PC stacked up very well in gaming. The PC could handle any game I threw at it and also make quick work of any editable files that I may have.

For testing purposes, different sorts of games were played to evaluate the performance of the PC. The average FPS achieved on these games were as follows:

As you can determine from the FPS figures, the games ran smoothly with any lag or jitter and every game gave over 60 FPS meaning that this PC is a viable long-term option for 4K gaming.

Specifications

The Yeyian Yari X21 excels in the specification part. Featuring the latest Intel i9 12900kf processor this PC asserts its dominance over the others in the list because the latest generation Intel i9 featured here is the most powerful processor out of the bunch.

This processor has 16 cores and 24 threads which is enough computing power to pull even the most demanding of tasks. Having such a large amount of performance is one thing but it can not be possible without proper sustained cooling.

For this purpose, this PC comes with an AIO liquid cooler. In my testing, I found the liquid cooler made by Yeyian themself to be quite effective. It maintained an operating CPU temperature of less than 80 which is quite good considering we are talking about a 16-core behemoth here.

To aid the liquid cooler this PC has a total of 6 fans. Despite that due to the glass sandwiched case the airflow is quite restrained. Slight tweaks to the case will allow for much better airflow which will lead to lower temperatures. Nevertheless, as things standstill, I couldn’t get the processor to thermal throttle when gaming.

Talking about gaming, we have the Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card on this PC. The RTX 3080 needs no introduction, it is quite literally the best graphics card that you can get at the upper-mid range price bracket.

Since this PC comes with the latest Intel 12th generation processor, it also includes the newly launched DDR5 RAM. DDR5 RAM provides much-needed improvements over DDR4 RAMs with higher speeds and lower latency.

The installed RAM capacity on this PC is 32GB clocked at 4800MHz which is more than enough for all your gaming needs. Gaming, streaming, content creation, rendering you name it everything is possible with having this much RAM capacity.

Lastly, this PC also comes with an exuberant amount of storage. It has a 2TB NVME Gen 4 SSD and a 2TB HDD making the total available storage to be 4TB.

Case Design and Connectivity

The case of the Yeyian Yari X21 embodies a glass sandwich design. I say this because, both the side panel and the front panel are constructed from tempered glass. Although this design language may be in trend these days, it comes at the expense of proper airflow. Since glass doesn’t allow any air to pass, the airflow in this PC is quite restrictive.

To combat the airflow problem, this PC has a raised stance. The four metal feet at the bottom of the case add an inch or two of clearance from the ground. This slight lift is not only better for the stance of the case but also allows for the flow of air to-and-from the case.

Coming onto the connectivity next, this is the segment where this PC truly shines. Included with all the traditional connectivity bits is a thunderbolt 4 port.

Thunderbolt if you don’t know is a USB-C interface that allows for much higher bandwidth on a single port hence allowing users to use this port for multiple means and that includes connecting 4K monitors.

Having Thunderbolt 4 connectivity here comes in very handy and will definitely add to the future-proofing element of the PC because more and more gadgets are transitioning to this latest form of connectivity.

As for the other ports besides thunderbolt, the front I/O consists of 2x USB 2.0, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 3.5mm HD Audio port. While on the back of the PC Displayport, HDMI, 1x USB 3.2 Gen Type C, 1x USB Gen 2 Type-A, 2x USB 2.0 Type A, 2.5Gb Ethernet, 1x Optical S/PDIF, and 5x 7.1 Surround HD Audio.

Yes, you saw the last one correctly. This PC does indeed include 7.1 channel audio due to its advanced and high-tech audio encoding technology.

Aesthetics and Features

When it comes to the aesthetics of the Yeyian Yari X21 it looks quite good. The main highlighting factor here is the RGB lighting and if you are a fan of RGB you will quite appreciate the absolutely blingy nature of this PC.

The side and the front glass panels further accentuate the RGB lighting of the PC. Despite the RGB lighting on this PC being bright and vivid, one thing I would like to say is that this PC looks like most other gaming PCs on the market.

Perhaps, this is what gamers want but the lack of originality and uniqueness degrades the value of the PC. Given that I am paying $3500 for the Yeyian Yari X21, I expect a unique-looking PC that can separate itself from the rest of the crowd but what the Yeyian Yari X21 is not.

The Yeyian Yari X21 looks to recapture the lost uniqueness points with its features. This PC has a very impressive feature set which positions this PC apart from its competitors.

Among the features, the most noteworthy is the inclusion of 7.1 surround channel audio. As my fellow gamers would know, having surround sound is very beneficial in games and this PC does that aspect right out of the box.

Besides that, the Yeyian X21 includes Wi-FI 6, which is the latest in Wi-Fi technology to provide the best user experience. This card is made by Intel and is capable of achieving Wi-Fi speeds up to 1Gbps

I found the performance of the Wi-Fi to be very consistent and reliable. Even games that require fast data processing like FPS games ran smoothly on Wi-Fi.

Along with the Wi-Fi, you also get the latest Bluetooth 5.2 built into this PC. Like the Wi-Fi, the Bluetooth performance is also very good with minimal lag so to speak.

Last but not the least, Yeyian is offering you a 2-year part and 3-year labor warranty. Free lifetime tech support is also included complementary to the purchase of the PC which will be quite beneficial if you are new in the world of PC gaming.

Gaming Experience

Going into the gaming experience I have to be extra vigilant when evaluating a gaming PC because the gaming PC can make or break the purchase of a gaming machine.

Therefore, I am quite happy to tell you that even after staunch use, the Alienware R14 gaming PC held up fantastically. It delivered an excellent experience in anything I threw at it.

Whether it was a AAA title, a multi-player game, or a VR game the PC excelled in all regards. The performance of this PC can be examined from the fact that I was comfortably able to play games at 4K resolution.

However, if higher FPS were required one could easily tone down the resolution to 1440p and enjoy a higher frame rate.

The average frame rate that the Alienware R14 gave was as follows:

  • On 1440p resolution

At 1440p the PC averaged 70 in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 68 FPS Microsoft Flight Simulator, 102 FPS in Red Dead Redemption 2, and 170 FPS in Fortnite.

  • On 4K resolution

At the 4K resolution, the average FPS was 58 in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 45 in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 75 in Red Dead Redemption 2, and 90 in Fortnite.

All the games at both 1440p and 4K resolution were tested at the highest graphic settings that each game had to offer.

Overall, the Alienware R14 remained solid throughout and didn’t show any sign of slowing down regardless of the game I played on the PC which shows that the Alienware R14 is not only going to provide a good gaming experience today but will also continue to provide that down the road as well.

Specifications

The specification segment has always been a strong forte of the Alienware desktop PCs and this one is no exception. It features the best hardware that Nvidia and AMD have to offer.

At the heart of the PC is an AMD Ryzen 5900 processor. This 12 core 24 thread behemoth from AMD is tasked with being the best processor that AMD makes and therefore has exceptional performance and efficiency.

The Ryzen 5900 is paired with the Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card. The RTX 3080 has gained quite a repute for being quite the performance champ for the price. It can obliterate most games at 1440p as well as 4K resolution.

The 12GB Vram of the graphics card also makes it ideal for very graphical intensive tasks like rendering visuals.

So, that your demanding tasks are as smooth this PC provides gamers with 32GB RAM. While you may think that 32GB is excessive, believe me, given the caliber of performance we are dealing with here 32GB is a must to balance everything out.

The CPU, GPU, and RAM combined make this PC a very good VR machine as well. VR games and applications will be able to run on this PC without a PC.

For storing a lot of games and applications, you are getting a total of 3TB storage space here. 1TB comes in the form of a blisteringly fast SSD while the remaining 2TB can be associated with an HDD.

Although the performance produced by these high-tech components is impressive, it comes at the cost of heat. Heat is the biggest enemy of many modern gaming desktops and lack of proper heat dissipation is what causes the demise of many great gaming computers.

Thankfully, the engineering over at Alienware has this aspect of the PC figured out. For heat dissipation, the Alienware R14 includes 4 120mm case fans and a Cryotek AIO liquid cooling system.

Case Design and Connectivity

All Alienware products have a distinct design formula that not only sets them apart from other brands but also makes them eerily recognizable in the sea of mainstream gaming PCs.

This PC carries the same old Alienware design cues but with a modern twist. The honeycomb mesh pattern that Alienware is synonymous with is there but is surrounded by a glass front panel.

The mesh grill not only adds an interesting design element but also dampens the sound of the fans installed in the PC. Talking about fans, the case of the PC is intelligently laid out with fan spots in the most ideal positions.

The case is also slightly wedged to the front with a slight across its sides. This case design looks unique and not like other generic boxy offerings from other PCs.

Another aspect I really like about the design of the Alienware R14 is the back profile of the case. Unlike other manufacturers, Alienware has also paid proper attention to the back of their PC.

There are proper air channels at the back of the PC, which provide an exit route for the hot air inside the PC. This way a proper air circulation pattern is maintained.

When spending just shy of $3000 on a gaming PC you expect it to have connectivity and fortunately, the Dell Alienware is not here to disappoint.

It contains all the ports that gamers are expected to use frequently. Due to the shape of the case, the ports are also positioned in convenient and easy to reach spots hence connecting peripherals and gadgets to the Alienware R14 is a breeze

If you don’t fancy cables, then you would be pleased to know that this PC features the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity right out of the box.

Aesthetics and Salient Features

I love how the Alienware R14 looks. It has a very upright and mean stance which perpetuates a dominant design language.

The muscular bulges and the extension of the case lugs to the back of the PC make for one unique and angry-looking machine.

To add more flare to the design, the PC also features RGB lighting which is done rather tastefully. Alienware has not gone overboard with the lighting making the PC look like a Christmas tree which is something I can really appreciate.

Nothing looks out of place on this PC, even the Alienware branding on the side glass panel of the PC looks nice and so does the skull logo at the front of the PC which also adds character to the whole PC.

As for the salient features, despite this PC being a very high-end gaming PC machine, it focuses on the functional aspect rather than the opposite side of the coin. Therefore, there aren’t any noteworthy features in this gaming PC.

3. CUK Continuum Micro

PROS

  • Value to money gaming PC
  • Best-in-class aesthetics
  • 64GB is more than you will ever need
  • 4TB storage space is higher than any other PC
  • The latest Intel i9 12900KF is a very capable performer

CONS

  • Restrictive Airflow
  • Lackluster connectivity

It is not often that you stumble upon a gaming PC that leaves you in awe both in terms of its looks and the specifications. The Cuk Continuum is one such machine. Having the latest top-shelf hardware this gaming PC is poised to take on the competition in a bid to rule the RTX 3080 gaming PC category. Everything however is not perfect, and this PC also has its fair share of flaws as well.

Gaming Experience

The CUK Continuum was everything going for it. To provide users with the best possible gaming experience this PC not only takes care of the performance aspect but also special attention is paid to iron out small issues that might hinder the gaming experience of a user.

During my use, I didn’t encounter any problem when running games or heavy applications on this PC. It breezed through everything without much issue.

On the CUK Continuum, I could easily run games at 1440p as well as 4K resolution. The benchmarks for which are as follows:

  • On 1440p resolution

At 1440p resolution, the PC gave 82 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 75 FPS Microsoft Flight Simulator, 120 FPS in Red Dead Redemption 2, and 200 FPS in Fortnite.

  • On 4K resolution

At 4K resolution, the PC gave 65 FPS, in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 53 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 90 FPS in Red Dead Redemption 2, and 108 FPS in Fortnite.

For the sake of consistency, all the tested games were running on the highest preset that each game had to offer. The FPS numbers clearly indicate that this PC will be able to run AAA games relatively well in the long run.

Specifications

The specifications are a very strong force of the Cuk Continuum gaming PC. It features the top-of-the-line components that are currently available in the market.

Powering the PC is the latest generation Intel i9 12900Kf processor. This 12th generation i9 contains 16 cores and 24 threads which makes it the highest core count mainstream processor available to consumers.

Given its core count, this processor has an easy time dealing with any game you throw at it or any heavy task like game streaming, etc. This processor paired with the Nvidia RTX 3080 produces great performance figures as you have already seen in the above gaming experience section.

This beast of a processor is cooled by an AIO liquid cooler. Although CUK has not stated which cooler they are using during my testing I found the liquid cooler to be very effective.

It managed to keep the temperature of the processor within a safe operating boundary of sub 90° C. The low temperatures however come at the expense of very high fan noise. The fans of this PC can be very loud and reach up to 40 decibels on load.

As for the other specs, this PC contains 64GB DDR4 RAM which is more than enough for playing games at 1440p and even 4K resolution.

If you are a gamer that likes installing a lot of games on your PC, then you will be delighted to find out that this PC contains 4TB storage space. That 4TB comes in the form of a 1TB M2 NVME SSD and a 3TB HDD.

Case Design and Connectivity

The case design of the CUK Continuum is rather interesting. The company has gone a unique route by using a traditional case design but taking it up a notch by having various interesting design elements.

Let’s get the first thing out of the way. If you like glass sandwiched cases, then you are going to love the case design of this PC because the case here is drenched in glass panels all around. The front, as well as the side panel, have huge glass windows.

This is mainly done to provide more pop to the RGB lighting of the case but what they didn’t factor in is the lack of airflow.

As things stand, the airflow inside the case is pretty restricted which leads to the fan being very loud since they have to work harder to circulate air around the case.

Thankfully, unlike the airflow, the company has fully thought out about the connectivity of this PC. The CUK Continuum covers all your essential bits and contains most of the ports that you need on a daily basis.

I found the ports to be very accessible due to their well-thought-out positioning. The ports are arranged based on their priority level and the most frequently used ports are well within reach so that they can be easily accessed in a pinch.

Aesthetics and Salient Features

The Cuk Continuum looks distinctly apart from other PCs containing the Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card. Rather than having a boring old design, this PC has 3D effect RGB lighting.

The front panel of the case is lit up in a way that creates an infinity mirror design due to the symphony of different colors. Gamers can also change the effect of the led lighting and according to their preference can set it to strobing, fade, breathing, or solid. This aesthetic is unheard of on other PCs, especially in the prebuilt gaming desktop realm.

As for the salient features, this PC is not lined with gimmicks but rather has a very practical implementation of features. On this PC you have built-in Wi-Fi.

The Wi-Fi runs on the latest Wi-Fi 6 protocol which makes the connection very stable and reliable. I didn’t encounter any interruption or signal drop during my time with the PC and could even play fast-paced games on Wi-Fi very smoothly.

Along with Wi-Fi you also get the latest Bluetooth 5 built into this PC. Like the Wi-Fi Bluetooth connectivity also works quite well and can be used to power your headphones or other gaming peripherals.

I also like the fact that this comes with a 3-year warranty. The 3-year time frame is the highest I have seen in the prebuilt gaming desktop industry which further adds to the longevity aspect of the PC.

4. HP Omen 30L

PROS

  • Sleek and elegant case design
  • Best-in-class connectivity
  • Great airflow
  • 64GB RAM is more than you will ever need

CONS

  • Old generation Intel processor provides subpar performance

The HP Omen just keeps getting better with each generation and this latest Omen strings everything together into a gaming PC that is extremely fun and practical to use. The Omen 30L packs some serious hardware under the hood which gives the gaming desktop a great performance pedigree. Along with performance, HP is also poised to dominate the aesthetics as well the feature aspect of the PC.

Editor’s Rating

Gaming Experience

Although on paper it may seem like the HP Omen 30L is behind the competition when it comes to gaming that just isn’t the case.

This is the reason I like to repeat the simple statement that what is on paper does not directly translate to what is going to happen in real-world scenarios.

HP provides just as good a gaming experience as its competitors. During my testing, I found this PC to play any game I threw at 1440p and 4K resolution without a hitch.

The PC also didn’t even struggle with demanding AAA games and ran them with relative ease. This is something that you expect from such a high-end gaming PC so thankfully the HP didn’t disappoint in any way.

The average frame was also quite impressive with HP staying above 60 FPS in 90% of the games. When testing games, I received the following FPS:

  • On 1440p resolution

At 1440p resolution, the PC gave 68 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 55 FPS Microsoft Flight Simulator, 106 FPS in Red Dead Redemption 2, and 175 FPS in Fortnite.

  • On 4K resolution

At 4K resolution, the PC gave 51 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 40 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 73 FPS in Red Dead Redemption 2, and 90 FPS in Fortnite.

All the games played were tested at the highest graphic preset that each game had to offer.

As you can see from the FPS figures, they are very close to the best performance PC on this list, but HP does that with a trick up its sleeve which you will find out as you progress further into this review.

Specifications

The specifications of the HP are very good but a generation older which somewhat impacts the performance output of the PC but not by much.

At the core of the PC is the 10th generation Intel i9 10900Kf processor. This 10-core processor, although not as fast as the latest 12th generation i9 12900kf processor, still holds its own for gaming due to the very high clock speed.

For gaming, the difference between these two processors is not very significant hence the 10th generation Intel i9 10900k is still a very viable option for gaming.

Like the 12th generation Intel i9, this 10th generation processor also generates a lot of heat which if not taken care of can not only impact its performance but also reduce the lifespan of the processor.

HP knows how critical cooling is therefore for this purpose they have installed a custom-made OMEN labeled AIO liquid cooler for the processor. This cooler is tailor-made for the Omen 30L and

A generational sacrifice had to be made to pair this processor with the Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card while at the same time also not compromising the quality of other components.

The installed RAM capacity here is 64GB which is more than you will ever need. With such a high amount of RAM you can easily not only game on this PC but also use it for demanding professional tasks if you so choose.

Storage hoggers also rejoice because this PC comes with a combined total storage of 3TB. In the 3TB storage space, 1TB comes in the form of a high-speed M2 NVME SSD while the remaining 2TB is from an HDD drive.

Powering all these components in every sense of the word is a 750W platinum-rated power supply. The platinum rating is the best that a power supply can have so it is quite refreshing to see that HP is not compromising on the quality of its components.

Case Design and Connectivity

The case of the HP Omen 30L is quite familiar yet distinct at the same time. It shares the same glass sandwiched design as most other gaming PCs in this price range, but HP has executed that design language a bit differently.

Rather than using the typical temper glass, HP is using a dark frosted glass which is a very distinct design feature and not seen on all gaming machines.

I also especially like the fact that the HP Omen case has multiple spots reserved for airflow. More and more gaming desktops are ditching proper ventilation slots, so it is nice to see HP still carrying about the airflow of its PC despite having an AIO liquid cooler.

The practicality aspect also continues with the connectivity of this PC. Except for USB-C, I found this PC to contain all the other ports that are needed on a daily basis.

The positioning of all the ports is also spot on. This PC contains 2x USB-A ports, and separate 3.5mm ports for Mic and Audio on the front. While the bulk of the ports are on the back of the PC and these include HDMI, DisplayPort, 4x USB-A, ethernet jack, and audio ports for surround sound speaker configuration.

Aesthetics and Salient Features

HP has nailed the aesthetics part of this PC. The PC comes off as a very elegant machine with a great sense of appeal.

The way HP achieved this aesthetic is by keeping the RGB lighting to a minimum and only in distinct areas of the case. Only the logo and the rim around the front lower-case fan have RGB lighting.

From the frosted front glass panel, the implementation of this sort of RGB lighting adds quite the appeal to this PC. Despite that, the clean case otherwise makes the PC very elegant looking.

This blend of elegance and flash gives the Omen an aesthetic that is hard to find in a gaming machine these days.

Like the aesthetics, HP has also done a fine job with the feature set of this PC. Firstly, and most importantly, the PC contains state-of-the-art Wi-Fi connectivity built-in. This means that you won’t need to buy any external Wi-Fi dongles or cards to enjoy a high-quality connection.

The Wi-Fi of this PC comes bundled in with Bluetooth connectivity. The Bluetooth of the PC also works to the same pedigree as the Wi-Fi.

I never encountered any problem with connecting headphones, game controllers, or other gaming peripherals that allow for Bluetooth connectivity.

The HP Omen also comes bundled with the Omen command center. This is a software program that you can use to control each and every aspect of the PC.

The software allows you to configure the RGB lighting just the way you like it, optimize your network to reduce any lag or latency, check system information including useful vitals like temperatures, and set up a custom fan curve.

You can do all this with a single software which is unlike other PCs where you have to go into the bios and configure these settings. The convenience factor here is unmatched.

When using the PC if you do end up making a mistake then don’t worry you are covered with a 3-year warranty from the PC and knowing it’s HP the warranty claim will be quite smooth, to say the least.

Gaming Experience

The Asus ROG Strix G15CE is quite cheaper compared to other gaming desktops that have an RTX 3080. Therefore, the main thing I wanted to find out with this PC was whether you are getting a gaming experience that is significantly worse than other PCs.

Happy to report that it isn’t the case like that. After having spent extensive time with the PC I can confidently say that this PC provides a very similar gaming experience to that of more expensive gaming PCs.

Sure, you will get slightly worse performance and will enjoy fewer perks than the more high-end gaming desktops, but the actual frame rate in games is very similar to other gaming desktops.

During my testing, the average FPS was as follows:

  • On 1440p resolution

67 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 65 FPS Microsoft Flight Simulator, 100 FPS in Red Dead Redemption, and 175 FPS in Fortnite.

  • On 4K resolution

55 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 43 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 68 FPS in Red Dead Redemption, and 98 FPS in Fortnite.

All the games played were tested at the maximum graphic preset that each game had to offer.

From the gaming benchmarks, it is quite apparent that this PC can play modern games smoothly without a hitch.

Specifications

Being the cheapest RTX 3080 prebuilt PC, you do have to compromise on the very best performance aspect here. That being said, I am quite pleased to report that the cost-cutting measure that is taken in the right fields.

At the heart of the PC is the 11th generation Intel i7 11700kf processor. Despite being a generation older, this 8 core 16 thread processor is still more than capable of handling all the latest games without breaking a sweat.

This processor however cannot work at its full potential because cooling this processor is a stock air cooler. Although the air cooler does a decent job at containing temperatures below the thermal limit but cannot match the effectiveness of an AIO cooler.

This sacrifice had to be made to fit the Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card. As for the RAM, with this PC you are getting 16GB capacity which is quite sufficient for gaming but may need to be upgraded later on in the long run.

One area where this PC doesn’t sacrifice though is storage. With this PC you are not only getting a 2TB HDD but also a 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD. The combined storage of 2.5 TB will be plentiful for most if not all gamers.

Case Design and Connectivity

The Asus ROG Strix G15CE surprises consumers with a very unique and distinct case design. Upon my first impression, I was puzzled as well as pleasantly surprised by the PC case design.

Asus has managed this unique case by having a distinct design pattern that you will not see on mainstream gaming desktops. The front panel of the case is divided into two sections. The top consists of small, milled holes while the lower section of the case has vertically aligned mesh grills that allow for airflow.

The top of the case also contains this threaded vertical mesh design which not only looks apart but is also quite good for airflow. Talking about the top of the case, the addition of a grab handle at the top is very much welcomed. Since this is quite a heavy PC the inclusion of this grab handle is required for moving the PC.

Like other PCs, the Asus ROG Strix G15CE also has a large side window. Due to its large size, closing and opening the glass panel is a bit of a chore because Asus has implemented a very weak latching mechanism for the side glass panel.

That being said, the large and bulky design means that this PC can house a large number of ports for a flawless connectivity experience. During my time with the PC, I never encountered any problem since all the ports that are normally used on a daily basis are included here.

As for the ports themselves on the front, you will find a USB 3.2 Type-A port, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, and separate 3.5mm audio ports for Audio and Mic.

While the ports on the back include 6x USB 3.2 Type-A, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, Ethernet Port, 2x HDMI, and 4x Display Ports.

The reason we have so many display ports here is that this PC supports the connection of multi-displays. By having 4x Display Ports you can connect up to four high refresh rate monitors to this PC.

Aesthetics and Features

A lot is going on with the design of the Asus ROG Strix G15CE. Despite that, I am quite pleased that every design element nicely comes together to create a well-rounded aesthetically pleasing PC.

The most attractive angle of the PC is from the front. You not only get to see the aggressive front fascia of the PC but also get to enjoy the tasteful implementation of RGB lighting. The RGB lighting here is quite subtle and refined yet uplifts the aesthetics of the PC in a very daring manner.

As for the features, you won’t get much here given the price of the PC but some are noteworthy.

The most beneficial is the inclusion of built-in Wi-Fi. Thankfully, Asus has not skimped here and included the latest Wi-Fi 6 protocol. Due to this latest protocol, gaming on Wi-Fi was a joy and I was easily able to play all games, even fast-paced action or shooting games without any lag or jitter.
